Application for Scholarship is open

The ministry of higher education and scientific research has announced Aug 5^th the beginning to apply for scholarships abroad. The beneficiaries at this stage of the program are the students who obtain and applied all necessary documents as announced on MHE website.

Students who meet general criteria:

• Application is open from Aug 5^th to Aug 31^st (2010)
• First group of applicants will be shortlisted on Sunday 15^th of Aug 2010 and according to the new instructions 25% of available chairs will be decided.
• Second group will be shortlisted after 31^st  of Aug 2010 and will be decided.
• No difference among the groups regarding details or speciality.

To reduce expenses, interested applicants may submit their completed application form to the below centres:

• Presidency of the nearest university to the location of applicant, university is only to receive forms for the purpose of facilitation of applying process; applicant may submit forms to university even if not an employee of that place.
• Reception in Ministry of Higher Education building.
• In remote areas, please submit your form to the closest college, institute.

Submit your form and other requested documents in a sealed envelope and send to ministry of higher education.

All forms will be collected and analyzed then decided on by MHE.

Please Note:

• Fill the form completely (incomplete forms will not be considered).
• The date of application must be written on the form and on the envelop with signature of applicant, the receiver must check date and signature.
• Send all requested documents with the form, no need to send originals at this stage. Originals will be requested after the selection of names.

Documents that must be prepared by applicant.

1. Application form can be found on MHE website.
2. Graduation certificate either in English or Arabic.
3. Other needed documents such as Iraqi ID, Iraq nationality status ID, Passport if available.
4. No need for letter of no objection.

Also:

• If applicant matched all criteria but couldn’t be sent in first and second group, there will be a third group soon.
• The mechanism of selection for various disciplines will be decided according to number of applicants, ministry plan and number of available scholarships, applicants who meet all conditions and collect most points, may be selected without need to interview. In case of more than an applicant having same points in a discipline then there will be need for contest interview.

Number of Scholarships:

• 100 masters and 200 PhD for MHE (all conditions apply).
• 100 masters and 50 PhD for other ministries (general conditions).
• Application for the announced scholarships is all done through MHE.
• However it is good to know decision on other ministries scholarships will be decided accordingly with the ministry of planning and according to a table.
• Names of successful applicants will be announced on MHE web site.
